You might expect that with another tough economic year almost behind us, it would be a tight Christmas for most Brits. However Barclays predictions are for anything but, with a record spend expected over the festive period – up 8% on Christmas 2009. Britons are expected to withdraw a total of £18bn from ATMs and banks during the run up to Christmas, while total spend with debit cards across the UK is predicted to reach over £30bn. Our reporter was joined by Dan Wass, Director of Current Accounts from Barclays to talk about why we still plan to spend up a storm and how we can make sure we don’t end up in trouble because of it.
